Opal M. Jones
President and Chief Executive Officer
Opal M. Jones is President and Chief Executive Officer of DOORWAYS an interfaith non-profit organization in St. Louis, Missouri that provides housing and related supportive services to people living with HIV/AIDS. As the lead executive, Opal oversees DOORWAYS, an $8 million organization that assists nearly 3,000 individuals annually in 132 counties in Missouri and Illinois.
Opal serves as Vice President of the National AIDS Housing Coalition in Washington D.C., where she meets with other national leaders, legislators and government officials about HIV/AIDS policies. She also serves on several advisory committees including the Missouri Housing Trust Fund, the St. Louis Regional Health Commission and Eagle Bank.
Opal holds a Bachelor of Science degree with an emphasis in Management and Organizational Behavior and is currently pursuing her Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Missouri-St. Louis.
Opal’s tenure as president and CEO at DOORWAYS has been marked by numerous awards including the University of Missouri – St. Louis’ Distinguished Alumni award in September of 2013 – the University’s highest honor bestowed on alumni, and the St. Louis Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 award, in February of 2014, for her impact in the St. Louis business community.
Justine Craig-Meyer, CFRE
Chief Development and Communications Officer
Justine Craig-Meyer has 19 years of nonprofit experience; ten in housing development. As a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE), she oversees communication efforts for the organization and leads the development efforts to raise private funds that leverage DOORWAYS’ government funding. Prior to joining DOORWAYS in 2013, she served as Executive Director for Lemay Housing Partnership, Inc. (LHP) and CEO for @FundedMission, a nonprofit consulting business catering to nonprofits in Missouri and Nebraska with budgets less than $2M. Justine has several certifications from NeighborWorks, a certification in Economic Development from the St. Louis Economic Partnership and a BA in Political Science from Stephens College. Justine serves on the Board of Hospitals for the City of Saint Louis and the Advisory Board for YouthBridge Community Foundation.
Gary Mudd, CPA, MBA
Chief Financial Officer
Gary Mudd brings almost 30 years of non-profit experience to DOORWAYS. Gary is a certified public accountant with ten years of public accounting experience at Deloitte and Kerber, Eck & Braeckel where he worked with numerous not-for-profit clients. He manages the information technology efforts for DOORWAYS and oversees all financial issues related to the growing organization. Gary holds a M.B.A. from the University of Missouri – St. Louis and a Bachelor of Science – Accountancy from the University of Missouri – Columbia. Gary serves as board treasurer for PROMO, Missouri’s statewide LGBT advocacy organization, and previously served on the boards of St. Louis Effort for AIDS and Art St. Louis.
Pat Plumley, MSW, MM, LNHA
Chief Program Officer
Pat Plumley is a a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator and leads DOORWAYS’ four housing programs and a 24-hour residential care facility. She oversees compliance for issues related housing and related supportive services to improve the quality of life and health outcomes for people affected by HIV/AIDS. Before joining the DOORWAYS team in January 2014, she was the Corporate Program Services Manager for St. Andrews Resources for Seniors/Management and the Director of Senior Services for SSM Health Care. Pat holds Masters from both Saint Louis University and Webster University as well as several certifications.

Subsidy Program Director
Brenda Malone has more than 21 years of nonprofit experience; eleven in the housing sector. Prior to joining DOORWAYS in 2003, she worked with resettling refugees and immigrants at the International Institute in St. Louis. Brenda currently serves as the Co-Chair of the Ryan White Planning Council and has her BS in Business Administration from Fontbonne College.
Utina “Tina” Pelts
Residential Program Director
Tina Pelts brings five years of property management experience with HUD housing and over 10 years of management and customer service experience. She holds an Illinois State Leasing Agent License and a certification from National Housing Compliance for Certified Occupancy Specialist.
Outstate Program Director
Britta Smith has more than 25 years of nonprofit experience; seventeen in the housing sector. Prior to joining DOORWAYS in 2007, she worked with housing individuals with special needs, children in foster care, persons living with HIV/AIDS, homeless individuals and persons affected by domestic violence. In addition to the nonprofit skill set, Britta brings her nearly 5 years’ experience as a certified Realtor along with membership of the National Association of Leasing Professionals to DOORWAYS. These certifications along with being a State certified housing counselor affords Britta a comprehensive perspective required to provide quality services. Britta has her Bachelor of Arts from Eastern Illinois University.
Cooper House Administrator
Tracy Unger is a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator with more than fifteen years of successful experience in the administration, direction and operation of healthcare facilities like Cooper House. Due to her experience managing a 2.8 million dollar turnaround of a different healthcare facility, Tracy demonstrates the necessary skill set to build on the successes of one of DOORWAYS’ most critical programs. She was a participant in the CORO Women in Leadership program and has previously served on the Missouri Governor’s Advisory Council on Aging.
Human Resources and Volunteer Director
Patrick Young leads our human resources and volunteer management efforts. Patrick started at DOORWAYS in 2012 as office manager and assistant to the president. Due to organizational growth, a HR positon was created in which Patrick was promoted to in 2013. Since then, Patrick has worked with agency leaders to formalize the organization through new policies, procedures and initiatives. Patrick received his Masters of Public Policy and Administration from Mississippi State University in 2012, and is a member of the Society of Human Resources Management, the Human Resources Management Association(HRMA), and sits on the board of the Metropolitan Volunteer Management Association (MVMA). He received the credential of Certified Human Resources Professional from SHRM in 2016.
